The Opportunity

We are seeking talented Senior Mechanical Systems Design and Analysis Engineer to support the Battlespace Communication System (BCS) Program as we plan for future work. This role will see you applying your skills upgrade and integrate our core product with newly developed or acquired products, on a range of platforms. BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off-the-shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for users. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission needs. 

In this role, you will leverage next generation technology, to support the warfighter in the rapidly evolving threat environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop diverse engineering solutions for electronic, compute and power systems integration.
  • Develop engineering documentation and ensure accurate configuration management of system hardware.
  • Work with the project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered within the cost and schedule constraints of the project, adhering to quality guidelines.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team, in a conscientious way. 

Experience/Qualifications 

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or eligibility to obtain registraion. 
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.
  • Experience in mechanical systems design, integration and test.
  • Experience with environmental testing, verification analysis and functional assessment of test equipment.
  • Experience in writing technical reports and developing documentation related to systems integration.
  • Proven experience in providing direction and/or delegating work effectively within engineering teams to ensure project objectives are met.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the development of production drawings and instructions for assemblies and packaging solutions.
  • Ability to develop packaging solutions for RF subsystems and electronics into larger communications systems and collaborate with mechanical and software teams.
  • Knowledge of environmental exposure standards and test practices.
  • Familiarity with satellite, radar, tactical communications, or tactical data link systems (e.g. Link 16, SATCOM).
  • Exposure to defence standards and MIL-STD specifications.
  • Experience within Defence or complex engineering project environments.
