The Opportunity
Exciting Career Opportunity: Communications RF Engineer
The Communications RF Engineer will be responsible for assisting with the design, development, testing, and implementation of radio frequency (RF) communication systems for unmanned aircraft systems. This role involves working closely with Senior Engineers to support various projects related to wireless communication technologies, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and Development:
- RF communication system design, including selecting and specifying components such as radios, antennas and cable assemblies.
- Develop link analysis / link budgets for digital datalinks.
- Testing and Validation:
- Conduct RF testing and measurements to validate system performance against specifications.
- Support the analysis of test data and troubleshoot RF systems to identify and resolve issues.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and systems engineers, to integrate RF components into larger systems.
- Collaborate with external vendors and partners to source components and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Documentation:
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports.
- Maintain accurate records of design changes and testing results.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all RF designs comply with relevant regulatory standards and guidelines (e.g., ACMA, FCC, ETSI).
- Project Management:
- Participate in project planning and scheduling to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Provide technical support during the project lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
Experience/Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in RF engineering, preferably in communications systems.
- Experience with RF simulation and design tools.
- Solid understanding of RF principles, modulation techniques, and wireless communication.
- Proficiency in using RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, network analyzers).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Desirable
- Demonstrated experience in verification of equipment compliance to military E3 standards.
- Demonstrated experience in management of RADHAZ.
- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineers or a related field
Eligibility
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements
- Able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
- You may require a Foreign Work Authorisation (FWA) in order to perform this role. This is not a requirement set or determined by Boeing but by the Department of Defence under laws issued in 2024. Please refer to the Department of Defence website to understand these requirements.
