The Opportunity
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are looking for Assembly Operators to join the MQ‑28 Ghost Bat Production Facility nearing construction completion at Wellcamp Toowoomba, QLD.

These roles will be part of a team that builds something that matters, grow with a high-performing team, and leave a legacy in Australian defence manufacturing

Why this is exciting

  • This is a rare opportunity to work on Boeing's first final assembly facility outside North America and help build a state-of-the-art site that will deliver Australia's first military-designed combat aircraft in more than 50 years and redefine how advanced aircraft are made.
  • Work on an advanced, high‑visibility defence program (MQ‑28) that blends autonomy, aerospace systems and new production approaches.
  • Shape the future of Australian aerospace manufacturing — your work will support national defence capabilities and the growth of local industry.

We expect these roles to commence in January 2027.

What you'll get to do:

  • Perform precision assembly, fit‑up, riveting, bonding and fastening of airframe structures and sub‑assemblies.
  • Work alongside advanced automation equipment, including robots and NC machines.
  • Install and route wiring harnesses, avionics modules and mechanical systems per work instructions.
  • Carry out first article builds, build sub assemblies and conform to configuration control processes.
  • Use jigs, fixtures and tooling safely and accurately; support tooling and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct factory acceptance checks, functional tests and assist with production test activities.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and traceability in a regulated defence environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and the Quality team to resolve issues and improve manufacturing processes.

Who we're looking for:

  • Prior experience in production, aerospace or precision manufacturing industries is highly desirable, but not essential.
  • Experienced in use of hand tools, power tools and common assembly equipment; experience with composites or riveting (solid/hi‑loc) advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity and pride in doing high‑quality work.
  • Ability to read and follow technical work instructions, drawings and safety procedures.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills; ability to work on shift rosters as required.

Security requirement:

Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.

Location:

  • Wellcamp, Toowoomba

Why join Boeing Australia at Wellcamp

  • Work with cutting‑edge autonomous aircraft technology and a team of highly skilled Boeing and industry experts.
  • Opportunity to shape processes, culture and capability from the facility's inception.
  • Career development, ongoing training and real opportunity to grow within Boeing Australia.

We are committed to building a unique and inclusive workplace. Female applicants, people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent and ex-defence personnel are encouraged to apply.
