The opportunity 

Reporting to the Australia and New Zealand Payroll Manager, we are seeking an experienced Payroll Analyst Team Lead to manage audit and compliance activities and lead historical payroll analysis and reconciliation of entitlements across systems, employee records, and employment conditions. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who quickly understands payroll environments and effectively liaises between Payroll, HR, IT, and Legal. You would be part of a payroll team of 10; this Brisbane-based role requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. 

Responsibilities: 

• Advanced knowledge and experience in end-to-end payroll a must 

• Experience working with complex payroll datasets and undertaking detailed reconciliations and calculations 

• Strong analytical and investigative capacity with the ability to connect the dots across data, systems, processes and employment conditions 

• Demonstrated experience working on payroll remediation and compliance projects 

• Supervise a team of 2 Senior Payroll Analyst with daily tasking and delegation where appropriate and attend cross functional meetings on behalf of the Payroll Manager 

• Ability to manage internal escalations and complex scenarios  

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage communicate at all levels (speak at technical level, also speak in plain English) 

• High attention to detail with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, translating technical concepts into clear plain English. 

• Drive payroll audit and compliance; overseeing compliance checks and quality control audits  

• Payroll testing experience would be desirable but not necessary (Writing test scripts, defect management, status updates etc.) 

Experience/Qualifications 

• Minimum of 5 to 10 years end to end payroll experience 

• Previous experience in supervisory, team lead, or management role overseeing staff 

• Must have advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills with experience with complex formulas 

• Experience in Aurion and or PeopleSoft highly desirable  

• Payroll Project Management experience desirable
