About the role

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) provides aircraft maintenance and upgrades, component maintenance solutions, technical support, mission-critical infrastructure support and training on some of the most capable surveillance, command, control, and combat platforms in the world for the Australian Defence Force 

We are seeking an Avionics Technical Officer / Avionics Engineer to join the Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) Program based at HAMS Albatross, Nowra, NSW. In this role, you will provide design engineering support to the EC-135 helicopter fleet in support of the mission to train Australian Army and Navy pilots and aircrew.

The successful candidate will ideally possess knowledge and understanding of the Australian Defence Force rotary wing environment, structure, and capability.

Responsibilities

As an Avionics Technical Officer / Avionics Engineer, you will:

  • Work in a collaborative, multi-disciplined team environment to support the initial airworthiness requirements of the HATS EC-135 helicopter fleet;
  • Develop and review engineering design changes and technical data updates;
  • Manage configuration and change control for engineering change proposals;
  • Support type investigation, classification, and certification activities;
  • Develop and review certification plans, certification basis, and compliance demonstrations;
  • Develop and review repair designs, including non-standard and unrepaired damage assessments;
  • Manage design assurance processes, including engineering approvals and product configuration records;
  • Identify and manage specific equipment requirements;
  • Support testing, verification, and airworthiness compliance demonstrations; and
  • Prepare and review documentation for non-standard operations, including military permits to fly and flight restrictions.

Experience/Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Qualifications in Avionics or Electrical engineering, or equivalent technical experience in an Avionics discipline (e.g. Cert IV in Aviation);
  • Experience in an aviation design and/or certification environment;
  • Australian citizenship, to meet Defence security and trade controls requirements;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications.
