 About the Role

Are you a strategic finance professional looking to move beyond the numbers and into a role of genuine commercial influence? We are seeking an experienced a Finance Business Partner to lead the financial and commercial side of the Wedgetail Sustainment Program based at RAAF Base Williamtown. The Wedgetail platform provides a critical defence capability to the Royal Australian Air Force and the Commonwealth of Australia.

You'll manage a Cost-Plus contract, lead a team of six and work directly with the Program Leadership Team and work closely with the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) customer.

You will lead the development of quarterly Estimates At Completion (EAC) to present directly to the BDA CFO, collaborate annually with the CoA Customer to shape the 10-year Defence Management and Finance Plan (DMFP) and manage the annual DMFP budget. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic planning

• Work with the CoA customer each year to build the 10-year Defence Management and Finance Plan (DMFP), the government's long-term budget and capability roadmap for the Wedgetail platform.
• Lead quarterly Estimates At Completion (EAC), the forecast of total program cost at finish, and present findings to the CFO and program leadership.
• Provide financial decision support to Program Managers.

Commercial and contract management

• Act as the lead authority on financial and commercial matters for the program.
• Ensure compliance with CoA contract requirements.
• Manage the financial impact of the KPI performance framework.
• Lead new proposals and contract variations.
• Manage DMFP budget, project budgets, baselines, and EVMS (Earned Value Management System) reporting.

Team & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and mentor a team of 6, covering Finance Analysts and Contracts Specialists
• Manage weekly engagement with the CoA customer
• Represent finance and commercial interests within the Program Leadership Team

 About You

• Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
• CPA or CAANZ (or equivalent) highly desirable
• Experience managing complex contracts, ideally Cost-Plus
• Experience with long-range financial planning and multi-year forecasting. DMFP or equivalent government/defence planning experience is a strong advantage
• Track record leading multi-disciplinary teams, including where you don't have direct line management over everyone
• Solid understanding of EAC and EVM, and the ability to turn that data into a clear story for non-finance stakeholders
• Confident presenting to C-suite executives and government customers
• Australian citizen, holding or eligible to hold NV1 clearance
