Apprentice Aircraft Spray Painter (Surface Finisher) 

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a motivated and career-focused Apprentice Aircraft Spray painter to join our Maintenance Team at RAAF Base Amberley.

As our newest team member, you will be responsible for gaining skills and experience in surface finishing on various aircraft platforms and aircraft components, to achieve your Certificate III in Aircraft Surface Finishing.

Our team at RAAF Base Amberley supports Defence Force's fleet of F/A-18F Super Hornet, C-17 Globemaster and E-7 Wedgetail aircraft.

Working alongside experienced professionals, you will develop the technical skills, discipline and experience required to build a long-term career in military aviation maintenance.

 

Your Day:

No two days are the same, however here is an example of what activities you can expect to undertake during your apprenticeship:

  • Be an integral part of the existing Amberley MRO paint team
  • Deliver quality products to our customers on a first-time quality basis
  • Demonstrate competence in all aircraft surface finishing processes including paint application
  • Work within a small dynamic team and be able to respond effectively to changing requirements

In addition to the above, to successfully complete your apprenticeship you will also be required to:

  • Attend training with a Registered Training Organisation
  • Pass all examinations to the acceptable pass mark of the Registered Training Organisation
  • Maintain a detailed journal of experience to a standard acceptable to BDA and the Registered Training Organisation

 

Your checklist for success:

  • Enthusiasm and passion to learn aircraft maintenance support activities from experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers who will mentor and guide you from day one to completion of your Cert III Aircraft Surface Finishing.
  • A natural aptitude with a willingness to learn
  • Ability to successfully interact with mentors, co-workers and management to maintain productive working relationships to meet team, business unit, and organisational goals
  • Have the self-discipline to maintain a current work journal  
  • Able to speak, read and write fluent English
  • Flexibility with working hours and locations
