The Opportunity -
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will join the AH-64E Apache team.  In this embedded role you will be accountable for Sustainment Engineering services from a Mechanical standpoint and report to the CoA for day-to day taskings.

This is a 12 month contract commencing in October.

Program overview
The AH-64E Apache program provides advanced attack helicopter capability to the Australian Defence Force, enabling precision strike, armed reconnaissance and close air support. This program sustains a critical combat capability, supports interoperability with coalition partners, and underpins Australia's land and joint operations.

What you'll get to do
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer within BDA, you will

  • Leads resolution of a wide range of complex technical, operational and quality mechanical, fluid and pneumatic system issues that cannot be resolved by customer.
  • Conducts the following in support of the Apache program:
  • Develops, integrates and documents mechanical regulatory requirements to establish the system baseline design,
  • Analyses data to evaluate reported discrepancies,
  • Develops and manages repair processes to resolve in-service issues,
  • Leads in researching events to determine safety implications, preparing analysis, recommendations and presentations regarding safety processes,
  • Develops and manages projects to resolve in-service issues on specific topics and/or models,
  • Leads communications and presentation material for dissemination to customers on specific systems,
  • Translates customer product requirements into work requirements, processes and tasks,
  • Researches and develops engineering updates of less-complex technical in-service issues,
  • Resolves programmatic and technical problems that would affect cost, schedule and performance,
  • Uses structural and mechanical system and component designs, using approved tools and/or design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and customers throughout the product lifecycle,
  • Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems, modifications and components meet requirements and specifications, and
  • Assists with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Required AASB Engineering Authority: Design Engineer.

Who we're looking for

  • To be successful in this role you will have:
  • (Essential) Relevant Aerospace Engineering degree, 5 years+ relevant experience in similar role
  • (Desirable) Prior defence service/defence aerospace experience
  • (Desirable) Completion of DASR 21, Part M, Type cert courses
  • Meet Defence security and ITAR requirements.
