The opportunity
The Boeing MQ28 - Ghost Bat - is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. Developed in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, it is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia in 50 years.
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are seeking a Labs Systems Administrator to support the design, development integration and test of new capabilities within the MQ-28 Ghost Bat Integration Lab (MIL).
The System Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting MIL network infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of network protocols, security measures, and system administration best practices. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
The role is based in Brisbane.
As a Labs System Administrator you will:
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary solutions to ensure optimal network availability and performance.
- Perform regular network security assessments and implement appropriate measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network infrastructure upgrades and expansions.
- Manage network user accounts, permissions, and access rights, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular backups of network data and develop disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime in the event of system failures or disasters.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in network administration, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, troubleshooting network-related issues and resolving them in a timely manner.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to maintain an up-to-date knowledge base for the team.
To be considered for the role you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a System Administrator or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLAN.
- Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Familiarity with network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control lists.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices, such as routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Solid understanding of network infrastructure design principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve network-related issues efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical support to end-users.
- Relevant certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), are a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in complex technical development and integration projects
- Experience with aircraft avionics and UAV systems (desirable).
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies (highly regarded)
- Experience with Autonomous Systems projects (highly regarded)
- Experience with aerospace and / or Defence projects (highly regarded).
