Te Whiwhinga a mahi | The opportunity
We are seeking a Training Device Technician to support the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) P8-A Poseidon training devices, including an Operational flight Trainer (OFT), Weapons Tactics Trainer (WTT), Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT), and Electronic Classrooms.
Working in a purpose-built facility at RNZAF Base Ohakea, you will be responsible whilst on shift for managing, maintaining and supporting the training devices to deliver training missions to our military customer.
Your well-developed communication skills, together with your ability to build exceptional stakeholder and customer relationships, will see you become an effective member of this multi-disciplinary team. This is a shift-work role, located at RNZAF Base Ohakea, New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
As a Training Device Technician your key responsibilities include:
Prepare training devices by conducting pre-operation and post-operation activities.
Participate in the training mission scenarios in a non-instructional role.
Perform routine and on-demand maintenance of training devices, and document maintenance actions in compliance with the required procedures.
Troubleshoot training devices and support equipment technical issues to isolate faults and determine technical solutions.
Conduct functional tests of training device systems.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.
Deliver outcomes, in a timely, responsive, customer-focused, and quality-driven manner.
Convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Shift work is required for this role (Early and Late Shift).

Experience/Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Experience working in a complex aviation maintenance environment, ideally maintaining NZ flight simulators or training devices.
Demonstrated ability to provide products and services that meet the highest technical and quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies and processes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred qualifications:
Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics), or
Certificate IV in Simulation
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (required if performing instructor support)
Electrical Service Technician (EST) or Electrical Appliance Serviceperson (EAS) licence

Confined Space Entry
CPR/First Aid
Eligibility:
