We are seeking an experienced System Design Engineer Avionics based at Gallipoli Barracks in Enoggera, Brisbane to join our CH-47F Chinook Embedded Workforce as a key contributor to the CH-47F Engineering In-Service Program. In this important role, you will help ensure the continued airworthiness and operational readiness of the aircraft.

Responsibilities

As an Avionics Engineer within BDA, you will:

  • Participate in the integration of externally approved software and avionics modifications on the CH-47F fleet.
  • Develop local design changes within scope of Engineering Authority.
  • Support all aspects of the CH-47F Health and Usage Monitoring System (Cargo Platform Health Environment (CPHE).
  • Support all aspects of the CH-47F Mission Planning software (AMPS), and the Army Aviation Common Mission Management System (CMMS).
  • Support the establishment of Data Usage and Analysis capability.
  • Support the Maintenance Support Devices (MSD).
  • Technical Information (TI) handling; registration, review of applicability, Safety Alert Information (SAI) and actions.
  • Develop and review Certification Program Plan (21.A.17 and local Design Manual procedures).

Experience/Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Avionics, Software, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics
  • Minimum of Two (2) years Avionics Engineering experience.
  • Experience in Software and Network integration and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and experience in system safety and risk management.
  • Understanding of configuration management principles.
  • Experience in aircraft sustainment engineering and technical support.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Defence Security Clearance.

Desirable:

  • Previous Defence service/Defence aerospace experience.
  • Completion of DASR 21, Part M, Type cert courses.
  • Experience with other weapon systems.
