About Insitu Pacific
Insitu Pacific delivers industry-leading uncrewed aerial system (UAS) services to Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Our expertise, operational experience, and knowledge has established Insitu Pacific as a key provider of end-to-end advanced multi-domain ISR solutions.
Since 2009, our people, partnerships, suppliers and local flight testing and training facilities have effectively supported defence, commercial and civil customers. We are committed to maintaining and further developing our local supply chains and supporting Australia's sovereign capability as a vital component to a strong Australian defence industry sector.
The Opportunity
The Production/MRO Planner is responsible for integrated planning, scheduling, and coordination of both new-build production and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) activities for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS/UAVs).
This role ensures effective alignment between:
- Manufacturing/assembly of new UAS platforms, and
- Maintenance, repair, and overhaul of in-service or returned systems.
The position optimises resource utilisation, minimises downtime, supports regulatory compliance, and helps ensure on-time delivery and fleet availability in a dynamic aerospace environment.
Responsibilities
Integrated Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, maintain, and execute integrated master schedules covering UAS production (assembly, integration, testing) and MRO activities (inspection, repair, upgrades, overhauls).
- Plan and sequence work for UAS airframes, propulsion systems, avionics, sensors, payloads, and ground support equipment across both production and MRO workflows.
- Balance priorities between new-build deliveries and in-service fleet needs, escalating conflicts as required.
Material & Resource Planning
- Perform Material Requirements Planning (MRP) for production and MRO, including demand forecasting, procurement planning, kitting, and obsolescence management for UAS-specific components (e.g., composites, batteries, flight controllers).
- Coordinate with Supply Chain/Procurement to ensure availability of materials, repair parts, and kits in line with schedules.
- Support capacity planning and resource allocation (labor, equipment, facilities) for combined production and MRO demands.
Work Order & ERP/CMMS Management
- Create, release, and maintain work orders in ERP and/or CMMS systems for both new-build and MRO tasks.
- Track work order status, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate labour, material, and cost bookings.
- Maintain full traceability and configuration control of UAS components and assemblies.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with production, engineering, quality, flight operations, procurement, and maintenance teams to align priorities and resolve schedule/capacity conflicts.
- Communicate schedule changes, risks, and impacts to stakeholders in a timely and structured manner.
- Support program/project reviews and provide planning input to customer-facing teams as required.
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and report on key performance metrics, including production throughput, aircraft availability, turnaround time (TAT), schedule adherence, and reliability measures such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
- Analyse production and reliability data to forecast maintenance needs, identify bottlenecks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support and/or lead continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, predictive maintenance, process standardization).
Compliance, Quality & Documentation
- Ensure planning and execution activities support compliance with applicable aviation and quality regulations/standards (e.g., FAA Part 145, Part 107, AS9100, and relevant UAS requirements).
- Maintain accurate planning documentation, routing/BOM data, and configuration records.
- Support internal and external audits related to production and MRO planning processes.
External Interfaces
- Coordinate with external suppliers, repair vendors, and customers for parts provisioning, outsourced repairs, and Return Material Authorizations (RMAs).
- Provide schedule-related input for customer commitments and service-level agreements as required.
Experience/Qualifications
Essential:
- Certificate IV or relevant technical trade (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Aviation, Manufacturing, or similar).
- Demonstrated competency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, OEM manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- 5+ years' experience in a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), production, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling or coordination (e.g. planner, scheduler, maintenance coordinator, or leading hand with planning exposure).
Desirable
- Formal training or certification in Six Sigma (Yellow/Green Belt) or other structured quality/process improvement methods.
- Experience with automation, robotics, PLCs or CNC integration.
- Experience with AS9100, ISO standards or other aerospace regulatory/compliance frameworks.
- Prior involvement in manufacturing projects delivering measurable cost, quality or cycle‑time improvements.
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems and manufacturing data collection systems.
- Familiarity with supplier management and production/MRO integration activities.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements
- Able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
- You may require a Foreign Work Authorisation (FWA) in order to perform this role. This is not a requirement set or determined by Boeing but by the Department of Defence under laws issued in 2024. Please refer to the Department of Defence website to understand these requirements.
Benefits
- Generous study assistance and education options
- Salary packaging and Career Development support
- Health and wellbeing benefits including annual flu vaccinations and access to an Employee Assistance Program
- Formal reward and recognition program
