The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat is a globally significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities.

The Opportunity

As a Software Engineer within the MQ-28 program you will play an integral role in the day-to-day design, development, integration and test of software and firmware into MQ-28 Mission Systems.   

This role is based in Brisbane and reports into the MQ-28 Mission Systems Hardware and Firmware Manager. 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Support the design, development, test, and maintenance of software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle in accordance with industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards
  • Assist with review, analysis and translation of customer requirements into initial design of software products
  • Leveraging Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to support the development, documentation and maintenance of architecture, requirements, algorithms, models, interfaces and designs for software products
  • Support debugging and resolution of identified issues, to ensure reliability and efficiency of software products
  • Support implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development 

To be successful you will have expertise in some of the following: 

  • Skills or domain knowledge in Mission systems, message protocols and data exchange
  • Strong communication skills and experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional team
  • Past experience using precise measuring instruments (e.g. Oscilloscopes) in a lab environment
  • Past experience working with Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs)
  • Past experience utilizing MATLAB Simulink for complex logic modelling
  • Past experience in Software development in Defence software applications, particularly conforming to Defence and Airworthiness Design Standards, is highly desirable
  • Past experience debugging Hardware Description Languages (e.g. VHDL) is highly desirable
  • Past experience utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering tools, such as MSOSA, is highly desirable
  • Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics and/or Electrical Engineering.
