The opportunity
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) provides for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Joint Helicopter School, through the Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) Program, based at HMAS Albatross. The Program is currently seeking applications for the role of Program Integration Manager (PIM)/ Deputy Program Manager (DPM). As a key member of the HATS leadership team, this role is integral to the successful program management of the services delivered to the customer.
The successful applicant will enjoy working on this high value Defence program and be provided with career development opportunities and continuing training in project management best practice tools and processes.
This role is based onsite at HMAS Albatross, Nowra, NSW.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of assigned program or project activities to achieve agreed Defence capability, schedule, cost, and performance outcomes as a core member of the HATS Leadership Team.
- Support financial control activities, including budget monitoring, forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting to ensure delivery within approved financial parameters.
- Manage integrated project planning across internal teams, subcontractors, and customer stakeholders to ensure alignment with business, technical, contractual, and operational requirements.
- Support the Program Manager in delivering governance, reporting, and performance management across the program.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Defence customers and key internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication of priorities, progress, risks, and issues.
- Oversee the identification, escalation, and resolution of project issues, risks, and dependencies to support successful delivery and operational readiness.
- Lead the delivery of Program Management Best Practices (PMBP), including planning, execution, monitoring, control, and reporting activities.
- Manage and maintain change control, baseline integrity, and configuration management processes across the project.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor task prioritisation and workflow systems to support effective delivery and resource coordination.
- Track and report project performance metrics to ensure delivery against milestones, commitments, and program objectives.
- Coordinate timely preparation and distribution of technical, operational, and business reporting to internal leadership and customer representatives.
- Provide effective interface with internal support functions including Human Resources, Quality, Environment Health and Safety, Finance, Contracts, Security, Facilities, Trade Controls, Data Management, and Training.
- Where required, contribute to workforce planning, resource coordination, and team capability development to support sustained project delivery.
Experience/Qualifications
- Strong leadership, with the ability to coordinate, prioritise, and deliver complex program requirements in a dynamic environment.
- Extensive project management experience, with demonstrated success delivering programs or projects in technical, aviation, or Defence environments.
- Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in project management, engineering, or an aircraft technical environment.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement capability across internal and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of airworthiness standards and the ADF's Defence Aviation Safety regulations.
- Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and build strong working relationships across various stakeholder groups.
- Self-starter with strong initiative, sound judgement, and well-developed problem-solving skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline are highly desirable.
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements and must have the ability to hold, or obtain, an Australian Defence security clearance to Baseline level.
