The Boeing MQ28 - Ghost Bat is a globally significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities.

This role will be a key leadership position in a team that builds something that matters, will grow a high-performing team, and will leave a legacy in Australian defence manufacturing.

This role is based at Wellcamp Airport, Toowoomba.

Why this is exciting

  • This is a rare opportunity to work on Boeing's first final assembly facility outside North America and help build a state-of-the-art site that will deliver Australia's first military-designed combat aircraft in more than 50 years and redefine how advanced aircraft are made.

  • Be a key leader in the team that shapes the future of Australian aerospace manufacturing — your work will support national defence capabilities and the growth of local industry.

What you'll get to do:

  • Lead operations on site across people, parts, processes, facilities, equipment and tooling to produce the MQ-28 Ghost Bat.
  • Drive excellence by leading factory facing continuous improvements and integration of strategic changes into the site.
  • Be accountable for the safety and quality of Wellcamp operations, along with delivery and cost performance objectives.
  • Foster a culture of empowerment, teamwork, open communication, and collaboration across all interactions related to the site.
  • Represent the site to the Boeing organisation and will be proficient in reporting and engaging stakeholder groups to leverage their support.
  • Reporting to the MQ-28 Production System Director, the successful candidate will be a member of the MQ-28 Production System leadership team and be an active contributor in strategic planning and other activities for that team.

Who we're looking for:

  • Proven experience leading aerospace manufacturing operations on a large scale.
  • Demonstrated experience leading operations under the Boeing Production System, Toyota Production System, or similar frameworks.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including interpersonal, presentation, and analysis/reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of team leadership and personnel development.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field with relevant industry qualification.
