The opportunity

The Boeing MQ28 - Ghost Bat is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. Developed in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, it is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia in 50 years.

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the integration, verification and test of new capabilities within the MQ-28 Ghost Bat.

The role is based in Amberley but may also be performed from Brisbane.

As an experienced Systems Engineer you will:

  • Actively contribute to the development of a cutting-edge capability through exposure to all facets of the product lifecycle.
  • Design, develop, deploy and maintain systems to enable ground and flight test of aircraft
  • Design, develop, deploy and maintain flight test instrumentation systems.
  • Participate in gathering and analyzing requirements for test systems.
  • Develop procedures for test systems.
  • Assist with the development, operation and maintenance of test tools and systems.
  • Perform data analysis, develop and utilise data processing tools.
  • Periodically travel to remote test sites to support operations
  • Collaborate with other teams and interpret data to develop the system capability

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in complex technical development and integration projects
  • Hold Tertiary qualifications in either Aerospace, Avionics, Electrical or Mechatronics, that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust) or equivalent technical experience in a Systems Engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity of avionics systems and UAVs
  • Python development experience
  • Experience developing and maintaining networks and servers
  • Experience with aerospace and / or Defence projects (highly regarded.)
