We are seeking an experienced Senior EHS Specialist to lead the development and implementation of a new Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Management System for Boeing New Zealand. Based at RNZAF base Ohakea and offered on a 12-month fixed term contract, this is a high-impact opportunity to shape a fit-for-purpose framework that supports business growth, strengthens compliance, and lifts EHS performance. Working closely with leaders and operational teams, you will establish the policies, governance, and reporting mechanisms needed to deliver a modern, scalable system aligned to business needs and international standards.

In this role you will

  • Lead the development and rollout of the EHS Management System.
  • Translate regulatory, corporate, and operational requirements into practical standards and tools.
  • Establish governance for compliance, reporting, assurance, and continuous improvement.
  • Review current systems, identify gaps, and support implementation planning.
  • Maintain key EHS documentation and support reporting, incident management, audits, corrective actions, and risk activities.
  • Monitor legislative and standards changes and assess their impact on Boeing New Zealand.
  • Partner with regional and global Boeing EHS teams to align local and corporate requirements.
  • Provide practical advice to leaders and teams on EHS system application and improvement opportunities.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Health, Safety, Environment, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years' experience in EHS, systems development, compliance, or a related operational environment; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or improving an EHS Management System or similar framework.
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to write and implement practical procedures, standards, and guidance material.
  • Experience supporting risk management, incident management, audits, corrective actions, and compliance assurance.
  • Strong analytical, project coordination, and change implementation skills.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Experience working in a regulated, complex, or operational environment.

This role requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a New Zealand Government Confidential (CV) security clearance, with the ability to progress to Secret (SV).

Desirable

  • Experience in aerospace, defence, manufacturing, engineering, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Familiarity with digital EHS tools, reporting systems, or workflow applications.
  • Experience in training development, change management, or system rollout across multiple sites or teams.
  • Working knowledge of corporate governance, assurance, and compliance frameworks.
