The position is based at the Army Aviation Training Centre, Oakey Qld and the opportunity will see you training and developing the next generation of ADF aircraft maintenance engineers. The training itself is delivered in accordance with the new Defence Aviation Safety Authorities (DASA) regulatory framework, and you'll be involved in the delivery of CH-47F academic, practical and on-the-job training and assessment to provide job ready, confident and competent maintenance technicians.

In partnership with the Australian Defence Force (ADF), Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) provides aircraft maintenance and upgrades, component maintenance solutions, technical support, mission-critical infrastructure support and training on some of the most capable surveillance, command, control, and combat platforms in the world.

The Opportunity -

We are seeking an experienced B2 Maintenance Instructor/Assessor (Avionics) for the Chinook Integrated Support Service (CISS) Program within the CH-47F Maintenance Training Team. Your exceptional training and leadership skills can provide you with a challenging role in a unique environment.

Team members work as an imbedded workforce to support the customers personnel training requirements. This role offers an exciting and unique opportunity whereby we as a customer focused team:

  • Develop and implement methods of face-to-face training as well as exploring student centred learning methodologies.
  • Develop training materials and practical activities to consolidate the trainees learning experience.
  • Providing support to students and key stakeholders within the Army Aviation industry.
  • All instructional staff shall be responsive to the Army Aviation Training Centre, subject to any International Traffic in Arms or Intellectual Property constraints.

The role is based at based Swartz Barracks, Oakey, QLD.

Responsibilities:

As a Chinook B2 maintenance Instructor/Assessor you will: 

Be responsible for the delivery of CH-47F B2 Aircraft Type and associated maintenance support training in a theory and practical environment.

Review and amend courseware, handouts and assessment instruments as required in accordance with extant policy.

Work in the capacity of a course manager as required.

Development of training package materials following the implementation of new aircraft systems or through continuous improvement activities.

Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of training aids and simulators within the designated Chinook training precinct.

Support the development and compliance of the DASR 147 aligned training capability.

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • A Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent qualification, or willingness to achieve this qualification as part of the role
  • Must hold a CERT IV in Aeroskills (Avionics)
  • Demonstrated B2 (Avionics) helicopter experience with a B2 Military Aircraft Maintenance Licence (MAML) or CASA licence
  • Experience with the delivery of training in a Defence or similar environment
  • Highly competent Aeroskills Instructor/Mentor/Coach and courseware development skills.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated experience on CH-47F with avionics type qualification (B2 MAML) or equivalent
  • Interpersonal skills to work in a blended multi-trade team environment
  • An understanding of DASA Part 147 and 66 Regulations.

Must be an Australian Citizen and be able to obtain a security clearance to Negative Vetting 1 level, as per Department of Defence requirements.
