Job Summary  

Support and facilitate operation and delivery of ICT in support of 82WG Platforms.   Assists with problem resolution and technical support for mission planning systems and assists with the implementation of established security requirements. Assists with performing system monitoring, backup and restore procedures to ensure system and data availability. Gathers IT infrastructure information across distributed systems and multiple support groups and assists in implementing system changes.

Selection Criteria 

  • Experience in installing, configuration, and maintenance of hardware while continuously monitoring, logging, and reporting system health and performance.
  • Demonstrated management of configuration changes and data updates, applying knowledge of baseline configurations, change‑control procedures, and impact analysis.
  • Examples of the ability to develop, test, and keep up‑to‑date operational procedures and business‑level instructions.
  • Examples of help‑desk assistance to stakeholders, providing creative, thorough, and practical technical solutions that align with organisational goals.
  • Demonstrated contribution to the successful delivery of designated programs and projects.
  • Experience in the administration of system accounts, ensuring proper provisioning, modification, and de‑provisioning.
  • Understanding of the application of security and cybersecurity best practices to maintain a high level of protection for both hardware and software assets.

Other specific criteria:

  • The ability to undertake ad-hoc tasks out of hours and available to be rostered for deployment duties when required.
  • Ability to obtain a Security clearance to NV2 or above.
  • Willingness to undertake training continuum

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine daily operations supporting customer objectives.
  • Daily accounting and security of MPS equipment and media devices
  • Provide technical expertise and actively mentor and develop junior personnel.
  • Maintain all required authorisations, security clearances, and readiness standards to operate within the role.
  • Contribute to workforce training, authorisation processes, and professional development activities.
  • Uphold Work Health & Safety and Equity & Diversity standards across the team.
  • Monitor official collaboration channels (e.g., Microsoft Teams/JIRA) and action tasks and maintenance allocated by the relevant supervisor/manager.
  • Conduct approved maintenance activities in accordance with authorised orders, instructions, and procedures.
  • Verify and quality‑assure complex technical work completed by team members.
  • Initiate reviews and improvements to orders, instructions, and procedures to ensure accuracy, currency, and alignment with practice.
  • Liaise with nominated project officers and coordinate requirements and deployments as directed.
  • Ensure Fly Away Kits (FAK) are maintained, prepared, and de‑tasked for deployments.
  • Ensure configuration management for all assets is maintained in accordance with authorised processes.
  • Ensure security compliance with applicable security manuals and joint/allied security implementation guidance.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including fault diagnosis and analysis.
  • Assist with the production and delivery of MPE familiarisation Training courses to technical and operational Personnel at the times and locations as directed by Commonwealth.
  • Travel in support of exercises to provide MPE support to 82WG
  • Perform other tasks and duties as directed.

 Technical Responsibilities

  • Perform authorised updates to the ICT system as required.
  • Identify and resolve connectivity issues and report status to the relevant supervisor/manager.
  • Provide troubleshooting and fault‑rectification support to users, escalating to the supervisor/manager where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate inventories and databases of all assets and authorised users for the ICT system
  • Provide deployed support to platforms and personnel as required.
  • Report any security breaches at the earliest opportunity to the appropriate supervisory or management authority.
  • Perform Communications Security (COMSEC) supervisor duties
  • Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Perform approved data backups and data transfers between systems in accordance with authorised procedures.
  • Maintain situational awareness, ensure compliance with security protocols, and communicate status to stakeholders promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information & Communications Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Experience: 2-6 years in high‑availability information technology environments.  Experience in defence environments highly regarded but not essential

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with network‑centric systems, communications, and MSwindows platforms.
  • Proficiency with configuration‑management tools, monitoring suites and data backups
  • Knowledge of Defence Security Principles Framework
  • Certifications (preferred): ITIL, CompTIA Network+, MSServer
