The opportunity
We are seeking a Security Governance and Assurance Specialist reporting to Boeing Defence Australia's Chief Security Officer (CSO). The role provides governance, assurance, and compliance support across Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) and supported Australian subsidiaries, with a focus on compliance with the DSPF, PSPF, DISP membership obligations, and Defence contractual security requirements.
The position supports Defence program security assurance activities, maintains BDA's DISP membership, and enables effective engagement with Defence, CASG, and regulatory authorities. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to work effectively with program teams, security specialists, and senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Support the CSO in the development, implementation, and maintenance of BDA's security governance framework aligned to DSPF, PSPF, DISP, and Defence contractual obligations.
- Coordinate and manage activities required to maintain BDA's DISP membership, including preparation for DISP assessments, audits, and ongoing compliance activities.
- Provide security governance and assurance support to Defence programs, including program security plans, compliance assessments, and lifecycle assurance activities.
- Monitor, assess, and report on compliance with DSPF and PSPF requirements across BDA facilities, programs, and business functions.
- Support Defence security assurance activities, including engagement with CASG, Defence Security, and other Commonwealth stakeholders.
- Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of security documentation, including security policies, procedures, plans, and registers.
- Track security risks, issues, and non‑compliances, and support remediation planning and closure in collaboration with program and functional owners.
- Support internal and external security audits, reviews, and inspections, including Defence and DISP‑related assessments.
- Provide governance input to bids, contracts, and new programs to ensure security requirements are identified and addressed early.
- Contribute to security reporting, metrics, and briefings for the CSO and senior leadership.
- Uplift and deliver security education/training across the business and programs.
- Support post‑incident reviews, assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives across the security function.
Experience/Qualifications
- Experience in security governance, assurance, or compliance roles within Defence, government, or regulated industry environments.
- Strong working knowledge of the DSPF, PSPF, and DISP, including DISP membership obligations and assessment processes.
- Experience supporting Defence programs with security planning, assurance, and compliance activities.
- Ability to interpret Defence security requirements and translate them into practical governance and assurance outcomes.
- Strong written communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to write / review policy documentation and ensure compliance and integration with other management systems - Quality, safety etc
Desirable
- Degree in security, risk management, information assurance, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as CISM, CISSP, CISA, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, or equivalent.
- Experience within Defence primes, aerospace, or complex, multi‑site organisations.
- Familiarity with PSPF physical security, personnel security, and information security domains.
