The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking an Quality Training Specialist - Production to join the MQ‑28 Ghost Bat Production Facility.

This is a rare opportunity to work at Boeing's first final assembly facility outside North America and help build a state-of-the-art site that will deliver Australia's first military-designed combat aircraft in over 50 years and redefine how advanced aircraft are manufactured.  In this role you will build something that matters, grow with a high-performing team, and leave a legacy in Australian defence manufacturing.

This role is based at Wellcamp, Toowoomba.

As the Quality Training Specialist - Production at Boeing you will:

Utilise the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) iterative design and management method to optimise the effectiveness of the production quality management system by continually improving products, people and processes through the provision of effective training to production workers.

Plan

  • Define and maintain an AS9100-aligned training and competency plan, including a competency matrix, annual syllabus, and assessment criteria linked to certified processes and customer requirements.
  • Prioritise training activities based on risk and production impact, integrating corrective and preventive actions.
  • Schedule recertifications to ensure full role coverage and maintain audit readiness.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) such as training completion rates, competency pass rates, reduction in human-factor nonconformances, and timely closure of corrective actions.

Do

  • Develop and deliver controlled, versioned training programs through classroom sessions, hands-on practice, floor coaching, and e-learning, all aligned with work instructions and process specifications.
  • Execute initial qualification and recertification programs, maintaining competency evidence within LMS and quality management system (QMS).
  • Collaborating with manufacturing, quality assurance and team leads capturing process changes and addressing immediate training needs during new process/product introductions or corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support deployment of quality tools and systems (e.g. statistical process control, non-conformance reporting workflows, calibration awareness) through targeted modules.

Check

  • Assess training effectiveness using pre- and post-training tests, practical evaluations, LMS records, and KPI dashboards linked to quality outcomes.
  • Monitor training compliance, recertification status, and identify competency gaps; provide objective evidence for AS9100 audits.
  • Analyse the impact of training on first-pass yield, rework rates, and nonconformance trends; correlate training actions to corrective and preventative actions, rapid systematic problem solving or Boeing problem-solving model results.
  • Collect stakeholder feedback and conduct periodic training reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.

Act

  • Update training content and delivery methods based on audit findings, corrective and preventive action outcomes, process changes, and evolving customer requirements.
  • Close the loop on training-related corrective and preventive actions, verify their effectiveness, and escalate systemic competency risks as needed.
  • Implement train-the-trainer programs and floor-coaching to sustain improvements and embed best practices.
  • Maintain and retain controlled training records in compliance with AS9100 retention requirements, support supplier onboarding as necessary.

Who we're looking for

  • Experience in production quality roles within aerospace or high-reliability manufacturing environments, with a track record of delivering planning or shop-floor training programs.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 processes and practical knowledge of corrective and preventive actions, rapid systematic problem solving, and Boeing problem- solving model; as well as quality tools such as APQP, SPC and FMEA.
  • Strong communication and instructional delivery skills, attention to detail, and the ability to influence stakeholders at various organisational levels.
  • Optional but beneficial: AS9100/internal audit experience or certified trainer/assessor credentials.
  • Willingness to be based at Wellcamp with occasional travel to suppliers and Boeing sites.

Security requirement

  • Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet defence security requirements.

Location

  • Wellcamp (Toowoomba Regional Airport), Queensland, Australia

Relocation

  • Will be considered for the right applicant.
