Boeing Defence Australia is shaping the future of multiple air, land and sea platforms which is delivering critical capability for the Australian Defence Force. Boeing Defence Australia is seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to lead Verification Planning and Execution for the Wakulda Program.

As a highly experienced Systems Engineer you will provide Engineering Leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas including external resources and customers. Apply your extensive Systems Engineering knowledge and leadership ability to support planning, scoping, scheduling and guiding execution of technical initiatives to support and enhance the Wakulda Verification and Validation activities. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct technical analysis of customer System Change Requests and derive strategy for the Integration and Verification into the Wakulda Mission System.
  • In collaboration with Engineering Leadership team and customer technical leads conduct detailed analysis and planning to develop and execute Integration, Verification and Validation activities for both Wakulda System and wider System of Systems perspective supporting Air Battlespace Management IPT.
  • Support the Systems and Specialty Engineering Manager to ensure all V&V scope is planned, scheduled and delivered within the quality, schedule and budgetary constraints of the Wakulda project.
  • Support the Chief Engineer to foster and maintain an Engineering Excellence culture
  • Technical leadership and mentoring the Wakulda Systems engineering team plan and execute Technical Design Reviews, Test and Evaluation Working Groups
  • Mentoring of less experienced engineers including teaching, guiding and coaching.
  • Development and maintenance of Engineering command media including Plans, Procedures and Work Instructions

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in complex technical development and integration projects.
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle management, including Mandated System Reviews
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing against Systems Engineering artefacts including Systems Engineering Management Plan and Verification and Validation Plans.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and coordination qualities, working on behalf of the Engineering Manager, to plan, schedule and deliver technical solutions.
  • Experience with Change Management processes and progressing change management artefacts
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage, influence and negotiate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • Experience in the estimating, planning, managing and reporting progress of technical work scope is desirable.
  • Experience with aerospace and / or defence projects highly regarded.
  • Experience in supporting projects in an ASDEFCON contract environment highly regarded.

This position is based in Brisbane or Williamtown
