About us

Boeing Defence Australia is shaping the future of aerospace and delivering some of the nation's most important programs for the Australian Defence Force.

Joining us is a chance to make your mark, working with a diverse team that is united in pushing the boundaries of imagination and excellence.

We currently employ more than 2,500 people across 14 sites in Australia and three international locations and have a range of opportunities available as we plan for future growth.

The opportunity

We are recruiting an entry-level Quality Systems Specialist (P2) to join Boeing Defence Australia's Core Quality function. This is a high-trust, high-variety role suited to someone who enjoys being the person who makes things happen—balancing quality systems support with hands-on coordination and administration that enables leaders and teams to perform at their best.

You will support program and enterprise quality activities including requirements review, quality planning, audits, supplier assessments and routine problem investigation. You will also provide direct support to the Senior Manager Quality & Safety, including preparation of meeting packs, coordination of actions across the quality function, tracking deliverables, and helping keep priorities moving.

A key component of the role is administration and support of the Quality Systems that support the Quality and Safety Management System at the BDA level (user admin, record management, workflow support and configuration under guidance).

You will work closely with senior quality and broader stakeholders across programs to help ensure compliance with contractual, customer, regulatory and international quality requirements, while also strengthening day-to-day cadence, communication and follow-through across the function.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing proposals, contracts, and program/customer/regulatory requirements to help prepare quality assurance plans and test strategies for hardware, software and services.
  • Maintain and support deployment of quality directives, policies, processes and procedures to ensure program and contractual requirements, international standards and working agreements are followed.
  • Support audits (hardware, software and system-level) to assess compliance with the QMS, configuration assurance, regulatory and customer requirements; document audit evidence and results in standard formats.
  • Collect, validate and organise quality data to support routine problem identification and root cause analysis; contribute ideas and input to corrective action development.
  • Support quality metrics, reporting and basic trend analysis to highlight issues, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Administer the system at the BDA level, including user administration, record management, workflow support and data integrity checks in accordance with BDA processes.
  • Assist with system configuration and continuous improvement of forms, workflows, dashboards and user guidance (under supervision).
  • Provide practical support to Intelex users across the business, including triage of queries and coordination of fixes/enhancements with the right stakeholders.
  • Provide direct administrative and coordination support to the Senior Manager Quality & Safety, including preparation of meeting packs, briefs, minutes, action registers, and follow-up of outcomes.
  • Coordinate inputs from multiple stakeholders to enable decision-making (e.g., collating status, evidence, slides, metrics, audit outputs, and action closure material).
  • Maintain rhythm-of-business activities for Core Quality (calendars, agendas, pre-reads, distribution lists, trackers, and reporting cadence).
  • Track and drive completion of actions and deliverables across the quality function; proactively chase updates, escalate blockers, and keep stakeholders aligned.
  • Support internal communications and coordination activities across the quality and safety network (including organising sessions, capturing outcomes, and maintaining artefacts).

Essential criteria

  • Tertiary qualification (or enrolled) in engineering, quality, or a related discipline; or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • 0-2 years' experience in quality, manufacturing, software quality, or related environments; internships, cadetships or co-op placements are relevant.
  • Basic understanding of quality assurance concepts including QA planning, document control, nonconformance and CAPA.
  • Experience or exposure to conducting or supporting audits and documenting findings.
  • Ability to collect, verify and present data to support problem investigation.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to follow established processes.
  • Australian Citizenship (eligible for Defence security clearance).

Highly regarded

  • Experience administering or using Intelex (or similar management systems) for audits, nonconformance, CAPA, document control and reporting.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100/AS9110 or other aviation/defence quality standards.
  • Interest or experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau) or simple reporting automation.
