The Opportunity
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are seeking Expressions of Interest for Quality Specialists to join the MQ‑28 Ghost Bat Production Facility currently being built at Wellcamp Toowoomba, QLD.
In these roles you will be part of a team that builds something that matters, grow with a high-performing team, and leave a legacy in Australian defence manufacturing.
Roles we're seeking expressions of interest for
- Quality Production Specialist — Incoming & In‑Process quality tasks
- Supplier Quality Engineer/Specialist - Supply chain quality uplift
- Metrologist - Inspect, control and assure a wide range of equipment
- Tool Quality Control - Inspect, control and assure precision tools and jigs
- Calibration - Calibrated, maintain and managed precision measuring equip.
- NCQA - Manage all aspects of NC program assurance activities
- NDT - Level 2 & 3 required to carry out assurance activities
- Configuration Assurance - Control, maintain and prepare aircraft configuration
- Quality Manager - Various Quality Manager/lead roles
We expect these roles to commence late 2026 through to Mid 2027.
What you'll get to do
Each of the above roles comes with its own specific skill sets with some of the tasks being listed below. It is important to consider during the early stages of recruitment a heavy focus will be on applicants who are able to lead and support the creation of new process to support the role.
- Establish and operate inspection and test procedures for incoming materials, sub‑assemblies and final aircraft builds.
- Execute first article inspections, in‑process audits, dimensional checks and final conformity verification.
- Manage nonconformance reporting, root cause analysis, corrective action and disposition processes.
- Conduct supplier audits, monitor supplier performance and work with procurement and engineering to resolve quality issues.
- Maintain configuration control, traceability records and quality documentation in accordance with defence and aerospace standards.
- Support certification readiness, regulatory inspections and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Use metrology equipment, CMMs and inspection tools to verify tolerances and part conformity.
- Mentor and grow a vibrant, high‑performing manufacturing team in a brand‑new facility.
Who we're looking for
- Applicants must hold relevant qualifications and proven experience in aerospace/defence quality, manufacturing inspection, or metallurgical/avionics quality roles.
- Some roles will required skills in inspection techniques, use of measurement tools, first article inspection (FAI) and non‑destructive testing (NDT) awareness.
- Some roles will require experience in supplier quality management, audits and corrective action processes.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical problem solving and clear documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and management teams. Collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills and a drive to mentor others.
- Willingness to be based at Wellcamp with occasional travel to suppliers and Boeing sites.
