The Opportunity

Do you want to be part of the team designing, developing, producing, and testing the MQ‑28 Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA)?

Boeing Defence Australia's MQ‑28 Program is seeking a Senior Network Solution Architect to join the MQ‑28 Secure Networks project delivery team.

In this role, you will expand and sustain a multi‑tenant, geographically distributed, high‑assurance network. Your primary focus will be designing, implementing, configuring, and sustaining complex network, firewall, cross‑domain, and security infrastructure. The role also includes problem resolution, technical support for system delivery, and ongoing monitoring of system performance to support capacity planning and disaster recovery.

You will work closely with the Solution Architect/Team Lead, Systems Administrators, and Product Security specialists to lead the design, procurement, configuration, implementation, and sustainment of networking and firewall infrastructure in alignment with Boeing architectural standards and security frameworks. This role is also responsible for leading the end‑to‑end design and implementation of multi‑domain gateway infrastructure for the Secure Networks team.

This role is based in Brisbane and requires a minimum NV1 security clearance with the ability to obtain NV2 clearance.

Occasional interstate travel to Boeing sites across Australia may be required.

Mandatory Education/Experience:

  • Strong experience designing, architecting, and implementing multi‑site networks (LAN, WAN).
  • Deep understanding of switching, routing, VRF, VLANs, subnetting, and IP schema design (equivalent to Cisco CCNP level).
  • Experience with Palo Alto NGFW appliances and features such as zoning, vSys, security profiles, and hardening (PCNSA/PCNSE level).
  • Experience project managing the design and implementation of complex, high‑assurance security infrastructure.
  • Solid knowledge of network security hardening techniques.
  • Understanding of network integration with hypervisors and Fibre Channel storage.
  • Systematic and logical problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise technical and project documentation.
  • Ability to lead engagements with third‑party suppliers to inform solution design, develop cost estimates, and coordinate implementation.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to work inclusively with diverse teams.

Desirable criteria

  • Defence industry experience.
  • Experience designing and supporting high‑assurance networks.
  • Experience designing and/or implementing cross‑domain gateway products.
  • Working knowledge of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) Information Security Manual (ISM).

  • Experience with Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience delivering using Scaled Agile or Scrum approaches.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • University degree in a relevant discipline.

Security and eligibility

  • Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet defence security requirements.
  • Candidates must hold a minimum NV1 clearance and be able to obtain NV2 clearance.
