The Opportunity

Do you want to be part of the team designing, developing, producing and testing the MQ-28 Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA)?

Boeing Defence Australia's MQ-28 Program is currently looking for Network Solution Architect.

In this position, you will be working as part of the MQ-28 Secure Networks agile project delivery team to expand and sustain a multi-tenanted, geographically dispersed, high-assurance network. The primary focus of the role involves the design, configuration and sustainment of complex network, firewall, cross domain and security infrastructure. The role also includes problem resolution, technical support for the delivery of systems, and ongoing monitoring of system performance to support capacity and disaster recovery planning.

In this role, you'll be working closely with the project Solution Architect/Team Lead, System Administrators and Product Security specialists to lead the elicitation of network requirements, develop solution designs and implement networking infrastructure in alignment with Boeing architectural standards and security frameworks.

In addition to primary scope of this role, there is further opportunity for this role to design, implement and support a range of other specialist ground-based networks and lab environments either planned or already in use by MQ-28 Program.

Location and Security 

This role is based in the Brisbane CBD and requires a minimum NV2 security clearance. Some occasional inter-state travel may be required to Boeing sites within Australia. Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.

Mandatory Education/Experience:

  • Strong experience with design, architecture and implementation of multi-site networks (LAN, WAN).
  • Deep understanding of switching, routing, VRF, VLAN, subnetting and IP Schema design equivalent to Cisco CCNP level.
  • Experience with Palo Alto NGFW appliances and capabilities such as Zoning, vSys, Security Profiles and hardening (PCNSA, PCNSE level).
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of network security hardening techniques.
  • Understanding of network integration with hypervisors and fibre channel storage.
  • Systematic and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise technical and project documentation.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and execute complex network security implementations in consultation with SMEs.
  • Experience engaging vendors, developing cost estimates and coordinating supplier-delivered network infrastructure.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse team, in a conscientious and inclusive way.

Other specific criteria:

  • The ability to undertake occasional ad-hoc tasks outside of core business hours.
  • Have an Australian driver's license. 

Desirable criteria:

  • Defence industry experience.
  • Experience designing and supporting high-assurance networks.
  • Experience designing and/or implementing cross-domain gateway products.
  • Working knowledge of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) Information Security Manual (ISM).
  • Cisco and Palo Alto Certifications (CCNP, PCNSA, PCNSE).
  • Experience with Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems.
  • ITIL Fundamentals Certification.
  • University Degree in the chosen discipline.
  • Experience delivering using the Scaled Agile or Agile Scrum approaches.
