About the opportunity
- The AH‑64E Boeing Apache has been selected for the Australian Army and will join BDA's supported rotary wing fleet alongside Chinook and EC‑135 aircraft.
- We are recruiting an experienced Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to be embedded with the Commonwealth in the Apache SPO at Enoggera, Brisbane.
- In this role you will develop, implement and assess EHS programs to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain a safe, healthy working environment for the Apache program and partner fleets.

What you'll be doing
- Apply Boeing's Safety and Quality values to develop and enhance Apache WHS processes, tools and communities of practice.
- Evaluate and advise on WHS hazards associated with introduction into service of Apache aircraft, materials and processes.
- Act as a primary WHS interface (with the Materiel Safety Engineer) to regulatory agencies and AVNCOMD for Apache-related hazards.
- Support co‑located site EHS Specialists by evaluating workplace hazards and providing technical guidance.
- Report on Commonwealth safety system compliance against Environmental, Health & Safety regulatory requirements.
- Lead program reviews, investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent re‑occurrence.
- Provide WHS change impact assessments for Apache system changes across the enterprise.
- Deliver education and training to meet regulatory and business requirements.
- Monitor new regulations and advise on impacts to enterprise operations.
- Must hold a Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Avionics or related Engineering degree, meeting Engineers Australia requirements (MIEAust).
- Experience in aviation engineering: design development, investigations or work on aircraft electrical, radar, communications, navigation or electronic warfare subsystems.
- Experience producing engineering artefacts in the Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR) environment.
Who we're looking for
- Tertiary qualification in Health, Safety & Environment and at least 5 years' EHS experience in an operational environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to perform with minimal direction and exercise judgment in setting objectives and approaches.
- Thorough knowledge of Australian WHS and environmental laws, regulations and reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills to operate in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience working within a highly regulated environment.
