The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structures Engineer to support Boeing's E-7 within the Sustainment Engineering team. This role will place you in the Structures Team, providing ongoing sustainment support for the existing E-7 fleet. The Wedgetail Sustainment program is a complex, dynamic and rewarding program of work- you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse and highly skilled team that delivers Structures & Repair in-service support directly to the customer and Deeper maintenance.

As a Senior member of the engineering team, you will be responsible to the E-7 Airborne Mission Segment Sustainment Engineering Manager and Structures & Repair Team Lead for providing Structures & Repair Technical Services. This role will focus on the development, review and approval and certification of technical artefacts for the Wedgetail.

The role is based in Amberley.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for technical execution of Continuing Airworthiness Management (Part M) and 21J Design activities for E-7A sustainment Structures & Repair engineering; including development/review/approval of design/repair artefacts, provision of CAM services, technical safety and engineering in accordance with the approved Engineering Management System.
  • Perform basic and detailed structural analysis (static strength, durability/fatigue) to determine structural integrity, using classical techniques and Boeing tools.
  • Customer interaction with opportunities to interact with stakeholders from the operator, contractors, Defence Regulator and aircraft OEM.
  • Support and engage with Part 145 in aircraft repairs, certification and modification at Deeper maintenance.
  • Lead engineering-based projects in support of Minor and Major Structural Projects.
  • Work towards gaining Engineering Authority and Delegations on the E-7 platform.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical officers within the team

Experience/Qualifications

  • Hold a degree qualification either in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or a related tertiary Engineering degree qualification.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in aviation engineering focused on Technical Services.
  • Demonstrated previous experience in aircraft structural design/repair methodologies, stress analysis and modification.
  • Familiarity with engineering change processes preferred
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience working under DASR or equivalent regulatory environment.
