The opportunity

We are seeking a talented Senior Technical Officer - Filed Hardware and Assembly to support a world class communications and battle management system, produced by Battle Communications Systems (BCS). BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off-the-shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for users. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission needs. The role is based in Brisbane, with the production located in an western suburb industrial area.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute the assembly, installation, testing, operation, and maintenance of electronic and electrical assemblies, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Collaborate in the setup and execution of research studies and field trials, contributing to innovative solutions that enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Evaluate and recommend modifications to technical processes and manufacturing equipment, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Assist in the procurement of electronic and electrical components, equipment, and related materials, ensuring timely availability for project activities while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure that assembly and test equipment are maintained in optimal working condition and calibrated as required, supporting reliability and precision in all operations.
  • Provide expert technical information and advice to team members and stakeholders, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Qualifications in engineering or equivalent technical experience in an electrical/electronic discipline.
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills associated with electronic assemblies and installation.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing/fabrication practices as applicable to the electronics industry.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and wiring lists. Knowledge of drawing standards.
  • Familiarity with engineering change processes.
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.
  • Must have NV1 security clearance.
