Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking motivated, aviation‑focused Ground Crewman Aircraft Support (GCAS) Instructors to join our embedded training team at the Army Aviation Training Centre based in Oakey.  If you have a passion for helicopters, enjoy developing and delivering high‑quality training, and want to help shape the next generation of ADF Ground Crewman Aircraft Support (GCAS) personnel, we want to hear from you.

In a new era in Army aviation, Boeing has supported delivery of the newly delivered Apache helicopter fleet to the ADF. This role gives you the chance to work with and support training around these cutting‑edge platforms — contributing to sustainment, ground support procedures, hot/refuel operations and aircraft support doctrine as the Apache is integrated into Army aviation operations.

About the role:

  • Deliver and assess LMP training at the School of Army Aviation, including initial employment training (IET).
  • Act as a Qualified Assessor and Trade Testing Officer; conduct GCAS training in barracks and field environments.
  • Review, update and author courseware, handouts and LMP material as required.
  • Assist with review and authorisation of ePEX sections.
  • Work to Defence publications, systems and regulatory standards, including Operational and Technical Airworthiness.
  • Apply Army Aviation Risk Management and comply with WHS, Defence Safety Manual and environmental management policies.
  • Be responsive to Army Aviation Training Centre requirements, subject to ITAR/IP constraints.

This role is based at Swartz Barracks, Oakey — you'll be embedded with customer personnel and delivering training on some of the world's most capable aviation platforms alongside Commonwealth partners.

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Aviation Explosive Operations Supervisor (or equivalent).
  • Certificate IV TAE40116 (or higher) — Training and Assessment qualification.
  • Bulk fuel qualification (L121) or equivalent.
  • Previous GCAS operational experience.
  • AVN FARP Operator 120339 (P104089).

Desirable qualifications and skills

  • L121 driver (40M HX77) or Heavy Rigid licence.
  • CHEM ALERT 1-6 training.
  • Defence Aviation Non‑Technical Skills training.
  • Defence Aviation and Military Risk Management training.
  • Hazardous Chemicals Awareness.
  • Joint Fuels Inventory Management System (JFIMS) experience.
  • Hot Refuel Supervisor (after 12 months in trade).
  • Airside Level 1 & 2 training.
  • AVN ARMY tow motor licence code.
  • Emergency management fundamentals.

Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet Defence security requirements.
