The Opportunity
BDA is looking for an Aircraft Structural Integrity and Propulsion Systems Manager who will join the P-8A Poseidon team. In this role you will lead an engineering team to provide management and coordination of the aircraft and propulsion structural integrity programs. You will utilise sound engineering principles and decision-making to effectively manage airframe and propulsion structure through the aircraft's service life.
This role is based at RAAF Base Edinburgh.
As an Aircraft Structural Integrity and Propulsion Systems Manager within BDA, you will
- Manage the implementation of the Aircraft Structural Integrity (ASI) and Propulsion Systems Integrity (PSI) programs.
- Monitor and manage the aircraft and propulsion systems structural fatigue to ensure aircraft are safe and reliable throughout their service life.
- Implement and continuously improve procedures for data collection, assessment, and reporting.
- Lead the ASI and PSI engineering teams and provide subject matter expertise to support the execution of program tasks.
- Oversee and approve the development of engineering reports and documentation to provide analysis findings and present technical recommendations.
- Provide technical input and review of engineering decisions regarding aircraft and propulsion structural findings and efforts.
- Take ownership of ASI and PSI projects, ensuring they are completed to meet customer, stakeholder, and regulatory requirements and timeframes.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide routine updates and presentations on structural integrity program outcomes and findings.
- Foster a collaborative environment by sharing technical knowledge and best practices with team members.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical from nationally accredited program. (RPEQ &/or CPEng desirable).
- 7-12 years of experience in aircraft or propulsion structural integrity (ASI or PSI), or aircraft repairs, including aircraft or propulsion structural design, analysis, or engineering support to in-service aircraft operations.
- Previous experience in developing engineering artefacts within a regulated aviation environment such as the Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR) environment or similar (CASA, FAA, EASA, etc.).
- Possess strong analytical skills, including the ability to collect, organise, and analyse data to develop conclusions and recommendations.
- Well-developed communication skills to work collaboratively to a high standard within a multi-discipline team. A proactive mindset with a strong desire to take initiative and drive results.
