The Opportunity

We are seeking a Avionics Engineer to join Boeing and support the world class airborne surveillance, communications and maritime patrol system; the P-8A Poseidon. You will play a vital role in safeguarding a world class maritime, intelligence, surveillance and response aircraft in the P-8A Poseidon. You will be joining a challenging and dynamic environment, supporting an aircraft platform that defends Australia's interests. In this role you will be part of a team introducing the latest aircraft upgrade programs and providing ongoing sustainment support for the existing fleet. A significant number of advanced capabilities and upgrades are being introduced in the coming years across the platforms, and you will be heavily involved in delivering them.

The role located at RAAF Edinburgh, South Australia.

As an Avionics Design Engineer within BDA, you will:

  • Work with customers to develop and document electrical and avionic system requirements
  • Analyse and translate requirements into system architecture, interface specifications, wiring design and electrical equipment installation design
  • Test and validate designs to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
  • Provide Engineering support for electrical and avionics systems over the product lifecycle.
  • Work towards gaining Engineering Authority and Delegations on the platforms you will be supporting.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Hold Tertiary qualifications in either Electrical, Avionics or related tertiary Engineering degree qualification satisfying the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust)
  • Previous experience in aviation engineering activities including design development and engineering investigations relating to aircraft electrical, radar, communications, navigation and electronic warfare subsystem designs
  • Previous experience in developing engineering artefacts within the Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR) environment.
