The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia supports the AEW&C System for the RAAF, including engineering development activities to support upgrade and sustainment of the capability.  Engineering upgrades are delivered through the Single Enterprise Delivery Model (SEDM) which provides Block upgrades to the AEW&C System using a spiral delivery methodology. The Software Services contract includes scope for definition, development, integration, test and delivery of software upgrades to aircraft mission systems, ground support and training systems.

The E7 Engineering Lead - Software is responsible for the management of all Engineering scope within the Software Services team to provide software deliveries to meet the needs of the RAAF Customer and internal Boeing project requirements. You will work closely with Software Services leadership team, including the Software Services Project Manager, Chief Engineer and front-line engineering managers, to successfully lead activities to plan, develop, test and deliver the E7 software upgrades for the RAAF AEW&C System. You will utilize leadership attributes and communication / stakeholder management skills to ensure timely integration of both Customer requirements and the delivery requirements of other E7 projects into the integrated software build plans.

Reporting to the E-7 Engineering Manager, the role will be based in Williamtown.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership - communication & stakeholder engagement, technical management, oversight of software delivery teams, technical risk management.
  • Planning & Reporting - planning and coordination of software builds across the full software lifecycle, technical metrics, management of integrated schedule and critical resources.
  • Customer Interface (technical) - Primary technical POC for software delivery, managing deliverables & reporting, ownership of the software build roadmap.
  • Change Management - Leadership of change integration across E-7 teams, leadership of change impact assessment within Software Services.
  • Quality Management - Assurance of engineering outputs to meet quality, Issue resolution for non-conformances and defects.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Qualifications in engineering or equivalent technical experience. (RPEQ &/or CPEng desirable).
  • Familiarity with engineering processes and approaches to deliver weapon system software upgrades, preferably in an aerospace regulatory environment.
  • Demonstratable experience in delivery of projects in a complex business environment, preferably with direct experience of software projects.
  • Knowledge of the BDA E-7 Enterprise will be considered advantageous.
