The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia's Chinook Integrated Support Services (CISS) program provides support to the Australian Army's fleet of CH-47F aircraft. The scope of this support includes engineering, maintenance, training and logistics support. These support services are provided across three Army Aviation sites; Enoggera Barracks - Brisbane, Swartz Barracks - Oakey and Hamel Lines - RAAF Base Townsville.

BDA is now recruiting for a Program Manager to support the CISS program and is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for this senior program management position. The CISS PM has overall responsibility, authority and accountability for the delivery of all services requirements specified under the CISS Contract.

This role is currently based in Brisbane at the Boeing Head Office (123 Albert Street), but could equally and effectively be performed from our Townsville site.

Responsibilities

The primary focus for this role is to ensure effective customer relationship and contract management In this role you will interface customers contract authority representatives to assure;

  • All required services are delivered in accordance with Contract requirements
  • Program resource plans are implemented to assure continuity of services  
  • Program performance metrics are achieved (Key Performance Indicators and Strategic Performance Measures)
  • The customer communication plan is effectively managed to give the customers' Contract Authority Representative complete visibility over the status or resourcing plans and the status of all work in progress. In particular this includes reporting in detail on all Risks, Issues & Opportunities (RIO) and associated plans to address these
  • Escalation of issues that cannot be resolved at program level
  • Program quality assurance; assuring that services and deliverables are compliant with Army Aviation Systems Branch and/or Boeing governance systems
  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management: assuring the safety and well-being of BDA personnel working within Boeing and/or AASB management systems.

To support the customer relationship, it is expected that you will interface with the customers Contract Authority Representatives on a regular basis. You will also be required to travel to provide on-site support to customer representatives or BDA personnel at any of the three operating sites.

In order to meet customer expectations, you will coordinate the delivery of products and services, or placement of embedded personnel through the CISS Leadership Team. The CISS LT consists of BDA execution leads, BDA functional support team members and Boeing US program management counterparts. Responsibilities include;

  • Program governance in accordance with BDA policy and procedure
  • Chairing regular, scheduled LT meetings (review of work in progress, RIO and program baselines)
  • Engaging with BDA capability and functional management representatives as required
  • Escalating internal issues or help needed for resolution as required.

The successful applicant will report to the Director of the BDA Sustainment Operation (SO) business unit and will represent the CISS program as a member of the SO leadership team, attending weekly and monthly meetings to:

  • Provide program updates
  • Participate in SO strategy development
  • Review CISS program, SO business unit and BDA financial metrics
  • Discuss and address SO business unit level RIO
  • Respond to help needed requests

Experience / Qualifications

The preferred applicant will demonstrate sound business acumen; the ability to make good judgements, effective decisions and to think strategically, linking BDA business goals with customer and contractual requirements. They will have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience in

  • Program management,
  • Customer relationship management,
  • Personnel management; and,
  • Leading diverse, multi-disciplinary teams

A knowledge of the Army Aviation customer and its operating environment would be highly beneficial.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.

Applicants must possess or be able to obtain an NV1 Security Clearance and a Defence Common Access Card (DCAC)
