The Opportunity 

Boeing Technology Innovation (BTI) supports the future growth and profitability of Boeing Australia's businesses and the broader Boeing enterprise. This advanced research and development arm creates future aerospace solutions while improving the cycle time, cost, quality and performance of current systems.

BTI are looking for a Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join the team.  The successful applicant will work with an extended team of engineers and technicians to develop innovative solutions for application within new and existing Boeing products and programs.  The Full Stack Software Engineer will perform a variety of research and development activities focused on exciting new aerospace projects.

Some of the day-to-day activities in this role could be:

  • Working with multi-vendor Cloud Services to accomplish front-end and back-end tasks, designing features and managing databases;
  • Supporting Boeing's aerospace-related software research and development with support from experienced team members; and
  • Supporting the Commercial aviation sector.

This role is based on site at The University of Queensland, St Lucia.

As a Software Engineer (Full Stack) within BTI, you will:

  • Design, integrate, test and deploy innovative, scalable and modular software for challenging research problems in accordance with appropriate company standards and industry best practices.
  • Assist in the development of analytical tools and performance metrics required for continual project success.
  • Understand technical needs within the business to help define and further grow research goals and mature value-add technologies.
  • Participate in technical reviews and provide regular status information on task alignment with project goals.
  • Document design decisions and develop integration and verification procedures to demonstrate compliance to requirements.
  • Assisting in the planning, execution and support of a diverse research portfolio.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • An undergraduate degree or higher in a field related to computer science / software engineering with industry experience of 3+ years.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate interaction between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in core JavaScript/TypeScript, NodeJS, Java and/or C#.

Areas of specialty are as follows (please outline your experience):  

  • Experience with web application development, including experience with one or more modern web application frontend and/or backend frameworks such as Angular, React, Vue, Nest.JS, Spring or .NET Core.
  • Experience working with Git, GitLab and/or GitHub version control.
  • Solid understanding of software design principles, the SDLC and agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with open-source databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.
  • Experience or interest in UX design and tooling (eg. Figma).
