The opportunity

The Boeing MQ28 - Ghost Bat - is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. Developed in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, it is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia in 50 years.

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are seeking a skilled DevSecOps Engineer to join our dynamic Laboratory Operations team. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between software development and IT operations, ensuring a seamless integration of development, testing, and deployment processes. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for automating and optimizing our operational processes, enhancing system reliability, and improving the overall efficiency of our MQ-28 software development lifecycle.

The role is based in Brisbane.

As a DevSecOps Engineer you will:

  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with software developers, system operators, and other IT staff to manage code releases.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement across development and operations teams.
  • Automation and Tooling:
    • Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the software delivery process.
  • Monitoring and Performance:
    • Implement monitoring solutions to ensure system performance and reliability.
    • Analyze system performance metrics and troubleshoot issues to enhance application performance.
  • Infrastructure Management:
    • Optimize resource allocation and manage build pipeline services to support development and production environments.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Implement security best practices in the development and deployment processes.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Documentation and Training:
    • Create and maintain documentation for processes, systems, and tools.
    • Provide training and support to team members on DevOps practices and tools.

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role in software development and IT operations.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Ruby) and automation tools.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Bitbucket, Bamboo, Artifactory, GitLab).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies (highly regarded)
  • Experience with aerospace and / or Defence projects (highly regarded).
