The Opportunity -
BDA is looking for a Systems Safety Engineer or Aviation Technician to support the Australian CH-47F Chinook System Safety program. In this role you will help identify and manage risks to ensure the CH47 Chinook Helicopters remain safe, reliable, and mission-ready for the Australian Defence Force.
The role is based in Enoggera, Brisbane alongside the Australian Army, at the integrated Cargo Helicopter Management Unit (CHMU).
As a Systems Safety Engineer/Technician within BDA, you will
- Be an integral part of the Chinook capability.
- Supports the management and assurance of the Chinook system safety program alongside the CHMU System Safety Manager.
- Maintains and analyses records and provides reports on Material Safety compliance performance.
- Assess and document risk within a MIL-STD-882 based System Safety program
- Verify, validate and document risk reduction measures.
- Provide WHS input on hazardous materials management to CHMU staff.
- Support, as necessary, interfaces with the US Army System Safety Program.
- Support system safety training delivery when required across the Chinook enterprise.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Essential
- System Safety relatable qualifications, training and experience
- Experience in technical management of hazardous materials.
- Experience in engineering and logistics sustainment of a materiel system comparable in complexity to the CH-47F Chinook Platform.
- Demonstrable communication skills within an integrated workforce and engaging with stakeholders.
- Demonstrable ability to organise workload, establish priorities and meet deadlines in a team based environment.
- Minimum of Baseline security clearance.
- Desirable
- Knowledge of DASR Safety Management Systems.
- Demonstrable system level awareness of the CH-47 Chinook Platform.
- Knowledge of ISO 31000 Risk Management Standards.
