The Opportunity

We are excited to announce an open position for an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Mechanical, because of a promotion within our close-knit Maintenance team. You will have the opportunity to join the MQ-28A Program at RAAF Base Amberley, a cutting-edge initiative that is revolutionising the way the Australian Defence Force conducts operations.

The MQ-28A, also known as the Ghost Bat, is an advanced uncrewed aerial vehicle designed to enhance the capabilities of the Australian Defence Force. This program focuses on integrating innovative technologies to provide intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support, ensuring that our forces remain at the forefront of modern warfare. As part of this program, you will be involved in maintaining and optimising the mechanical systems of this state-of-the-art aircraft, contributing to its operational readiness and effectiveness.

Located in the vibrant City of Ipswich, RAAF Base Amberley offers a perfect blend of rich history and modern amenities, creating an ideal environment for both work and leisure. You don't need a background in Defence aviation to succeed! We encourage all members of the aviation trades industry to apply. If you hold Fixed or Rotary Wing qualifications and have experience in General, Civil, or Defence Aviation, we want to hear from you.

 

What you need to know

  • Fortnightly wage: $3,576.70 (AME2) or $3,913.75 (AME3) base rate. Allowances as applicable, plusSuperannuation, based on experience.
  • Roster: 9 Day fortnight days, with every 2nd Friday off, with requirement to surge into shift and overtime as required.
  • Allowances provided as necessary, including Per Diems for travel-related expenses.
  • Parking and canteen facilities available onsite.
  • Relocation assistance available for the right applicant.

 

Essential Responsibilities for Success in This Role

  • Technical Proficiencies and ResponsibilitiesManage and execute maintenance on Aircraft Mechanical systems in both Line and Base environments, encompassing modification, assembly, manufacturing, and flight line activities.
  • Communication Skills: Fluent in reading, interpreting, speaking, and writing in English.
  • Computer Literacy: Strong proficiency in computer systems and related technology.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with maintenance planning teams to ensure efficient aircraft servicing.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate maintenance records and certify completedtasks in the electronic maintenance system to ensure accountability, traceability, and compliance.
  • Safety Standards: Uphold Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices and report issues promptly.
  • Training: Supervise and train junior technicians to enhance skills and knowledge transfer.

 

This role is essential in ensuring the operational readiness and safety of our aircraft, and your expertise will contribute significantly to the success of our team.

 

Necessary requirements

  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Mechanical)
  • C class driver's license.
  • Australian Citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain clearance requirements for Global Trade Controlled items.

 

Security Clearance

You must successfully complete the vetting process for a government security clearance (NEGATIVE VETTIING ONE) sponsored by BDA. This requires disclosing all relevant information and verifying your background from birth to the present.
