To be successful in the role you should demonstrate rock solid sustainment of an ICT environment and be able to quickly identify and resolve complex IT issues.

 Responsibilities

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to oversee the implementation, security, and maintenance of computer systems across test, development, and production environments. This role requires a strong technical background to effectively lead a team while also being hands-on in system hardening and security remediation activities. Experience in the Defence sector will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team responsible for supporting multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux) and hardware platforms (Servers, PCs, Storage).
  • Administer virtual servers, with a focus on Hyper-V hosts and Virtual Machine Manager, as well as manage Active Directory, system monitoring, antivirus solutions, firewalls, switches, and system patching.
  • Provide daily system administration and organise help desk support to ensure smooth operations.
  • Triage tickets and tasks as necessary to prioritize and address issues effectively.
  • Conduct fault finding and resolve ad-hoc problems to minimize system downtime.
  • Develop supporting documentation and design artifacts based on project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with business stakeholders and project team members to gather and clarify requirements.

Experience/Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge base in some or all of the following areas:

  • Proven experience in leading a technical team.
  • Proficient in maintaining, administering, and supporting Windows Desktop/Server and Linux systems.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, particularly Hyper-V and Virtual Machine Manager.
  • Solid skills in storage and networking, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Experience in Identity Management, Multi-Factor Authentication, and Group Policy configuration and implementation (Active Directory, Federation Services, RSA).
  • Familiarity with the Information Security Manual is highly desired.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience with automated build software tools, such as Ansible, is a plus.
