Boeing Defence Australia is recruiting a permanent B2 Avionics Maintenance Instructor / Assessor to join the Chinook Integrated Support Service (CISS) Program. This is your chance to work at the Army Aviation Training Centre, Swartz Barracks, Oakey — training Australian Defence Force maintainers to be confident, competent, and job-ready.

Why this role is exciting

  • Hands-on & classroom variety: Combine academic, practical and on-the-job training—use simulators, training aids and real aircraft.
  • Unique environment: Operate inside a tightly integrated, customer-focused defence environment and collaborate with Army stakeholders.
  • Continuous development: Keep your own aircraft currency and help evolve the DASR Part 147-aligned training system.
  • Career growth: Opportunities to lead as a CH-47F Course Manager and influence courseware and assessment improvement.

What you'll do

  • Deliver CH-47F B2 avionics aircraft type and maintenance support training in theory and practical environments, aligned to Learning Management Packages (LMPs).
  • Act as CH-47F Course Manager when required.
  • Develop, review and continuously improve training materials, assessment instruments and training aids.
  • Maintain and support training simulators and facilities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a DASR 147-compliant training system.
  • Provide exceptional support to students and stakeholders across Army Aviation.

What we're looking for

  • CH-47F Aircraft Avionics Type Qualification (B2 MAML) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a Rotary Wing B2 Aviation Maintenance Tradesperson, Aviation Supervisor and/or Aviation Maintenance Manager.
  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics) is mandatory.
  • Australian citizenship (Defence security requirement).

Desirable

  • Experience delivering training in the Defence environment.
  • Certificate IV TAE40116 (Training and Assessment) or willingness to obtain it.
  • Knowledge of DASA Part 147 and Part 66 regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for multi-trade team environments.
  • Proven skills as an instructor, mentor/coach and courseware developer.

  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.
