The opportunity

The Boeing MQ-28 - Ghost Bat is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. Developed in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, it is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia in 50 years.

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are seeking an experienced Test Operations Manager to manage teams that design, develop, integrate and test new capabilities for the MQ-28 Ghost Bat.

As a Test Operations Manager, you will apply your extensive experience to manage a team of multi-disciplinary personnel, formulate and execute project plans and budget, and make test operations decisions to safely and efficiently achieve MQ-28 program objectives.

The role is based in Brisbane.

As an experienced Test Operations Manager, you will:

  • Manage employees performing activities within multiple Engineering disciplines.
  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures and set operational goals, in pursuit of test operations objectives.
  • Acquire resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and lead process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Foster strong inter-team relationships and communication within the MQ-28 Program.
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manage, develop and motivate employees, focusing on team culture.

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in complex aerospace and / or Defence technical development and integration projects.
  • Hold Tertiary qualifications in either Aerospace, Avionics, or Mechatronics, that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust) or equivalent technical experience in a Systems Engineering discipline.
  • Project Leadership. Ability to assign responsibilities and work tasks as a project team leader in support of the overall project. Ability to lead and direct the activities and resources of assigned projects for non-management employees.
  • Project Scheduling and Resource Management - General ability to create project schedules which identify time frames for key project milestones and identify project resource requirements.
  • Budget Management - General knowledge of budget management principles and

practices.

  • Risk Management - General knowledge and understanding of the methodology and processes associated with risk management, opportunity management, and issues management.
  • Demonstrated experience in systems and software development lifecycle (essential).
  • Familiarity with engineering change processes.
  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies (highly regarded)
  • Experience with Autonomous Systems projects (highly regarded)
  • Demonstrate a high level of communication skill
