The Opportunity

The Joint Systems portfolio provides a range of complex development and engineering support programs for our defence customers. Core capabilities delivered under each of the programs include system development and engineering support consisting of systems engineering, hardware and software engineering as well as operations and maintenance support services.

Joint Systems is experiencing significant growth, with multiple upcoming opportunities to build on the success of programs like the Battlespace Communications Systems and leverage next generation technology, and progressive program management approaches, to support the warfighter in the rapidly evolving threat environment. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Manager to help leverage these new business opportunities and turn them into reality over the coming years. Responsibilities will include:

  • Program Management of new business pursuits across the Joint Systems portfolio including providing leadership and campaign support to the BD team for LAND4140 Program Integration Partner (PIP) RFT and related opportunities in LAND8710 Littoral Manoeuvre program.
  • Assist Executing PMs across JS with organic growth opportunities as required
  • Ensure best practice and continuous improvement of JS new business pursuits including identification and implementation of improvements in areas such as estimating, CERs, pricing, scheduling and collaboration environments and standard documentation to improve the agility, quality and speed of JS response.
  • Provide PM and leadership of JS customer facing engagements for new business including leading proposal briefing teams, negotiation teams and workshop teams as required.
  • JS strategic direction - responsible for oversight and coordination of PM input into the JS strategy and future business planning.
  • Integration and alignment between campaign and execution teams for JS new business pursuits including the transition of all PMBP baselines including migration of MAL into execution baselines.
  • Member of the Joint Systems Core Leadership Team

To be successful you will have:

  • Ownership of significant and complex new business LRBP pursuits (> $1B over the next four years) which will include:
    • Knowledge - Deep knowledge of Boeing, including business process, functions, and interactions. Broad experience in designing execution concepts and integration of programs into existing structures. Knowledge of JS programs, ESPG and PMBP essential.
    • Leadership - leadership of complex bids including integrating with BD and execution teams, to ensure successful executable new business for the Joint Systems business unit.
    • delivering clear proposals to the customer
    • Strategic importance and Impact - the performance of this program has significant impact on the future success of the Joint Systems and BDA business including significant influence on the long-term JS strategy
    • Liaison - role requires high levels of liaison with senior customer, suppliers, Boeing and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in technical or para-technical disciplines.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen including experience in bidding and negotiating new business to ensure successful business outcomes
  • Tertiary qualifications in management, engineering, business or related discipline.
  • Proven senior level experience in people management.
  • Change management experience.
