Boeing Defence Australia is shaping the future of multiple air, land and sea platforms which is delivering critical capability for the Australian Defence Force. Boeing Defence Australia is seeking an experienced Simulation Software Engineer to support the delivery and sustainment of the Wakulda Program.

As a highly skilled Simulation Software Engineer, you will apply your extensive Simulation Software knowledge and leadership, to support a multidisciplinary engineering team in the delivery of a complex ICT-based Air Battle Management System.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, assessing, updating and/or developing simulation models, code and test procedures for requirements verification, characterisation and load testing
  • Partnering with cross functional engineering teams to enable integration of simulation software with hardware devices and systems.
  • Partnering with stakeholders to review and identify simulation requirements and dynamics of the systems being simulated.
  • Performing design, modeling, simulation, testing and analysis to assess, trouble shoot and/or optimize overall system performance and capabilities.
  • Performing data collection and processing for use in simulations.
  • Estimating time required for simulation development and execution activities
  • Performing other simulation software project functions such as, risk management, identifying dependencies, scheduling, tasking and progress tracking
  • Documenting and maintaining technical code, algorithms, specifications and descriptions of simulation models.
  • Modernizing, migrating, sustaining and updating simulation software to adapt legacy systems to new operating systems.
  • Technical supervision of less experienced engineers and technicians, including teaching, guiding and coaching.
  • Interacting with external customer to present simulation solutions for verification or technical issue investigations
  • Ensuring that simulation software meets quality and security standards by performing code reviews, developing unit tests and following verification processes prior to use

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate:

  • 6 + years of professional experience in simulation tools.  Experience with Air Battle Management (ABM), Tactical Data Link (TDL J-Series) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) highly desirable
  • Experience with maintaining and evolving extant simulation codebases in line with mission system updates
  • Hands-on experience with ICDs and system integration
  • Bachelor's degree software engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience across the software development lifecycle from initial design through to delivery
  • Familiarity with systems engineering practices and principles
  • Knowledge of version control systems (eg.,Git, Jenkins) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
  • Experience with Visio, Cameo and/or similar software design tools
  • Experience with Python, Java and Wireshark (LUA) highly desirable

  • Architect, design and maintain the software product baseline for new or modified software components.
  • Lead major simulation activities from conception through to delivery
  • Broaden knowledge into systems engineering and product security engineering domains.
