The P-8A Training Systems Support Team are looking for the next generation of Aerospace Workers to commence their career within the aviation domain on a Traineeship.  As our newest Aerospace Workers, you will be responsible for gaining skills and experience in the ongoing maintenance of hardware and synthetic aviation training devices, whilst attaining your Certificate II Aeroskills.  This traineeship will include a fully funded position at a local Maintenance Training Organisation (MTO), following which, you will be responsible for technical maintenance activities in support of P-8A Poseidon Training Systems.

This role is based at RAAF Base Edinburgh.

The successful applicants will commence in late May 2025 start their course in June 2025.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate and excited about aviation and looking to commence their career in that field.

As an Aerospace Worker you can expect to undertake during your traineeship:

  • Remove and install computer and simulated training device components.
  • Training system readiness activities including device configuration, loading, cleaning, and shutdown.
  • Prepare and use support and test equipment
  • Inspect, maintain, servicing, repair and fault diagnosis of components and systems.
  • Training device preventative and corrective maintenance activities.

In addition to the above, in order to successfully complete your traineeship, you will also be required to:

  • Attend training at the MTO
  • Pass all examinations and competencies in order to achieve aircraft task authorisation
  • Maintain a detailed journal of experience to a standard acceptable to BDA and the Registered Training Organisation


Your checklist for success:

  • Enthusiasm and passion to learn aircraft maintenance activities from experienced Technicians who will mentor and guide you from day one to completion of your Aeroskills Cert II.  If you currently hold any Aeroskills Certificates or equivalent we welcome your application.
  • Aptitude with a willingness to learn
  • Ability to successfully interact with mentors, co-workers and management to maintain productive working relationships to meet team, business unit, and organisational goals
  • Have the self-discipline to maintain a current work journal   
  • Able to speak, read and write fluent English


The nice to haves:

  • Previous trade background including ability to work with hands and read/interpret maintenance documentation
  • IT or System Administration experience
  • Competence with Microsoft office suite.
