The Opportunity
We are currently seeking technical professionals for Product Lifecycle Management Technical Lead position in BDA Digital Engineering team.
Boeing Defense Australia is enabling a next-generation Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system in alignment with its Digital Engineering strategy. PLM is a foundational platform in enabling this strategy. The PLM Technical Lead will play a pivotal role in this transformation, collaborating and innovating with Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Quality, Manufacturing Operations, and senior leaders throughout the company to enable the next-generation processes, tools and techniques that will in turn enable the strategic goals of the company.
As a Product Lifecycle Management Technical Lead in Boeing Australia, you will be responsible for business engagement, identifying and shaping emerging technology requirements, and performing business and solution analysis with the support of key subject matter experts to deliver great outcomes. The PLM Technical Lead role operates as a key interface between the Boeing programs and the Digital Engineering group, and works as a trusted and valued partner across the organization.
You will provide technical and functional expertise to drive innovative PLM solutions to delight customers and develop efficient solutions that maximize ease of getting work done and achieve program KPI's.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of engineering PLM solutions, including business case development, conducting feasibility studies, creating prototypes, and validating designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-geographic technical teams, business stakeholders, internal & external customers, and end-users to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Leads the incremental development and management of 3DX product technical specification & baseline in alignment with the BDA PLM change management & governance process.
- Implement and enhance modules and functionalities within 3DX and other PLM system, including CAD integration, data management, workflow automation, and configuration using OOTB solutions.
- Provide technical direction and support to engineering teams, ensuring that best practices and standards are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with vendors and external consultants to implement additional functionalities, resolve issues, and ensure a best-in-class PLM platform.
- Support the execution of the prioritized business initiatives as the technical lead on PLM projects.
- Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Mentor junior engineers and team members, providing training and support to help them develop their skills and advance in their careers.
Ideally you would have:
- Bachelor's/master's in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in developing and configuring PLM solutions in alignment with the business processes, preferably within 3DX or similar PLM tool
- Knowledge of CAD systems, such as CATIA, and their integration with 3DX.
- Experience and understanding across a broad range of technologies & capabilities within the PLM systems as well as a range of project delivery models
- Experience across all phases of technical projects, including hands on scoping, planning, reporting and estimating experience
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Experience in successfully engaging, communicating and collaborating with business and technical colleagues, and operating as a key interface between groups
- Business analyst or systems analyst experience, with strong documentation and presentation skills to all levels of leadership
- Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics).
- Knowledge of the interaction between departments/disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g., Operations, Logistics, Business).
Desirable (non-mandatory) experience will include:
- Knowledge of Model Based Enterprise and Digital Thread is a plus
- Experience in design thinking, lean, agile methodologies to drive user-centric solutions.
- Experience in integrating PLM systems with other enterprise systems such as ERP, MRP and CAD systems.
- Experience in a Defense, Aviation, or complex / large multinational organization.
- Current or previous Australian Defense Security clearance
