The Opportunity -  

The AH-64E Apache is the world's most advanced and proven attack helicopter. An opportunity exists for a Site Manager - Aviation Operations to support the rotary wing programs based in Townsville. This position directly reports to the Director of Product Support & Maintenance team and is responsible and accountable for the delivery of the contracted statement of work under the Australian Services Contract. This role requires excellence in stakeholder communication and management as well as the ability to utilise your skills, knowledge and business acumen to establish and maintain effective governance and assurance. As a senior manager supported by your execution leaders, you will lead, direct and indirect reports executing the Contract. Additionally, you will have responsibility and accountability for Program budget, governance and strategic direction. Further, you will be a key contributor as a member of the Apache Leadership Team.

This role is based onsite in Townsville and will work alongside the customer.

The Site Manager - Aviation Operations  has Accountability for the following contracted service delivery streams:

  • Leading a multidisciplinary team of employees and Subcontractors delivering technical and logistics Services to the 1 Aviation Regiment (1Avn) Operational Unit at RAAF Base Townsville and Army Aviation Training Centre (AAvnTC).
  • Cost Account Management and resourcing for in barracks, out of hours and Away from Base activities
  • Technical Lead for the site-based recruitment activities for BDA personnel
  • Management liaison and relationship focal for Defence Stakeholders and External Agencies
  • Accountable Manager for site compliance, site safety and personnel wellbeing
  • Ensuring continued competence of all personnel engaged in maintenance by facilitating and conducting/overseeing the Commonwealth's training program as required


To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Qualifications in an Aviation Maintenance Discipline
  • Demonstrated previous experience in Managing integrated teams of Technical Personnel
  • Previous experience in Leading Part 145 Maintenance Teams
  • Knowledge and Experience with ISO standards for:
  • Experienced and knowledge of Safety, Quality & Environmental Management Systems
  • Currently hold an NV1 clearance (Highly desirable)
