We are seeking motivated Senior Subcontracts Specialists to fill the following roles:

A senior subcontracts specialist to support the MQ-28 Ghost Bat Program in the Australian Production Uplift Program. You will manage and administer high-value contracts and subcontracts, ensuring compliance and managing supplier relationships, with responsibilities including strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and post-award administration.

A Senior Subcontracts Specialists to join our E7-A Sustainment Team to support several key sub-contracts.  The successful candidate will work closely with a range of stakeholders to support complex supply chain requirements for the sustainment of the Wedgetail program.

Key position duties include:

  • Identify gaps in the supply chain, conduct pre-award sourcing activities and manage complex, high-risk procurements;
  • Review proposals, negotiate contractual documentation, and select/recommend suppliers; and
  • Manage contract execution and administration, including supplier relationship and performance management.

In partnership with the ADF and the Commonwealth, Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) provides aircraft maintenance and upgrades, component maintenance solutions, technical support, mission-critical infrastructure support and training on some of the most capable surveillance, command, control, and combat platforms in the world.

BDA are looking for Senior Subcontracts Specialists to join our growing Sourcing and Supplier Management team at BDA, With the support of industry experts and working as part of a cross functional team, the successful applicant will draw on previous experience to ensure effective market engagement and subcontract management on vital Defence programs.

This role can be based at Williamtown, Brisbane, or Amberley, with the potential to be based in Toowoomba in future.

As a Senior Subcontract Specialist within BDA, you will:

  • Draft, negotiate and manage a broad range of commercial agreements including NDAs, development, manufacturing and support services contracts and contract variations;
  • Provide advice to project managers and other business stakeholders on all subcontracting activities related to your program of work;
  • Liaise with Legal, Functional, Engineering and Commercial stakeholders;
  • Develop procurement strategies and priorities and lead their delivery through strong stakeholder relationships and understanding program requirements;
  • Conduct complex approach to market activities (RFx), analyse and evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate supplier deviations to subcontract provisions and recommend final supplier selection;
  • Monitor and report subcontract cost, schedule and status and recommend or implement corrective action as necessary;
  • Participate in the development of process improvement initiatives and value for money opportunities;
  • With the support of Global Trade Control specialists, ensure supplier activities are compliant with applicable regulatory trade control (export-import) requirements

About you

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Minimum 5-8 years' experience in supplier management and/or sourcing with exposure to procurement contract terms and conditions (highly desirable);
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract law (highly desirable);
  • Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management to drive outcomes;
  • Demonstrated experience in the Defence industry is desirable;
  • Tertiary Education in Commerce, Law or Business or relevant experience (highly desirable);
  • High level competency in written and oral communication and standard business tools and systems;
  • An enthusiasm for working with suppliers and identifying new opportunities and relationships;
  • The ability to work with cross functional teams;
  • The ability to work autonomously to see projects and opportunities through to completion
