The opportunity

The Boeing MQ28 - Ghost Bat is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. Developed in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, it is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia in 50 years.

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are seeking a Structures Engineer to join the MQ-28 Integrated Test Team to support the development, upgrade and in-service support of the MQ-28 Ghost Bat air vehicle and related test equipment.

The role is based at RAAF Base Amberley or may be based in Brisbane.

As a Structural Engineer on the MQ-28 program you will:

  • Actively contribute to the development of a cutting-edge capability through exposure to all facets of the product lifecycle.
  • Provide engineering support for air vehicle structures over the product lifecycle.
  • Conduct technical investigations and resolve product defects.
  • Disposition problem reports generated from ground and flight testing.
  • Develop air vehicle modification kits through collaboration with design and maintenance teams.
  • Develop engineering documentation (e.g. instructions, manuals, procedures and risk assessments) to support the ongoing product operation and maintenance.

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in aerospace design, modification or support activities.
  • Hold Tertiary qualifications in either Aerospace or Mechanical that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust).
  • Demonstrated experience with the design, upgrade or repair of air vehicle structures.
  • Familiarity with engineering change processes (highly regarded).
  • Experience developing engineering artefacts within the Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR) environment (highly regarded).
  • Experience with UAV or Autonomous Systems projects (highly regarded).
  • Experience with 3D modelling and design tools (highly regarded).
