The Opportunity -

The AH-64E Apache is the world's most advanced and proven attack helicopter. It integrates innovative technologies to aid the crew in decision making, offering a new level of battlefield dominance through enhanced performance, increased situational awareness, superior survivability, and improved target detection, acquisition and engagement.

We are seeking an experienced Technical Officer, to support the AH-64E Apache Helicopter program.  The Australian Apaches will join the growing global fleet of more than 1280 aircraft operating in 18 countries, including coalition and regional partners.

The role is based at RAAF Base Townsville, collocated with the Army customer, 1 Aviation Regiment, in an integrated Attack Helicopter System Program Office (AHSPO) role.

As the Technical Officer you will:

  • Perform the duties of a SPO Technical Officer in the Sustainment Engineering Team, collocated with the maintenance organisation.
  • Liaise with Field Service Representatives, Logistic Services Representative and the Logistic Assistance Representative to provide visibility and accurate contemporary status of technical requests, identifying technical requests for localised action.
  • Support the development of technical processes (CAME, SI(BDE) LOG) for the Part 145 and Part M consumption of FSR and LAR advice.
  • Communicate and work to articulate and resolve design and operational issues and concerns with Engineers.
  • Apply trade technical knowledge to research, develop, test and evaluate operations, support programs, modifications, repairs and technical data.
  • Assist engineering personnel with fault finding, troubleshooting and solution development.
  • Develop in-service correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Develop, maintain and release drawings, systems designs or engineering documentation and data by applying company, industry and governmental standards.
  • Hold and exercise AASB Engineering Authority of Logistics Engineer.


This role is expected to commence 2 June 2025.


About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • [Essential] Certificate IV in Aeroskills, 8 years+ technical experience in maintenance and/or engineering teams at supervisory level.
  • (Desirable) prior aircraft technician in defence service or defence industry/airline experience on rotary wing/combat aircraft systems
  • Meet Defence security and ITAR requirements.
