The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) has a key leadership opportunity within a dynamic military aerospace program.  We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join the Super Hornet and Growler sustainment program.

Reporting to the Sustainment Program Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for Sustainment Programs interface with the operational elements of 82WG, 1 SQN and 6 SQN. This role proactively engages all sustainment capabilities to enable 82WG to succeed in its mission of Find and Destroy.

The Operations Manager manages and directs program activities including Operations Support, Fleet Management, Maintenance Planning and Coordination, Field Service Support, Automated Maintenance and Operations IT systems support and Complex Task investigations. The Operations Manager is also responsible for monitoring program performance to ensure cost, quality, safety and schedule requirements are met and exceeded.

The position sits within the Super Hornet Leadership Team and will be required to liaise with customers at all levels both internal and external.

As the Operations Manager you will have:

  • Demonstrated skills in managing large scale, complex projects to successful and timely completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute high-level management functions including customer liaison, business awareness with a track record of successful execution outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in a broad range of functional areas including military operations support, maintenance scheduling and planning, IT systems support and complex problem solving
  • Demonstrated experience in financial and trade control management for large projects in the aerospace industry.
  • Understanding and appreciation of a matrix-based organisation and the demonstrated ability to operate effectively within such an environment.
  • Sound understanding of and demonstrated experience in the application of project management best practice principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with company and customer representatives.

 

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in a business-related field, e.g. Program Management or Engineering discipline.
  • Qualifications in project management (meets minimum requirements of National Competency Standard for Project Management).
  • High level leadership and people skills and the ability to recognise high achievers and grow their skills.
  • Excellent level communication and negotiation skills that facilitate interaction between staff and key internal and external customer groups.
  • Experience in a military or commercial aerospace environment
